In the city of Busan, South Korea, a unique experience awaits along the stunning coastline of Haeundae. The Haeundae Blueline Park offers two must-see attractions: the Beach Train and the Sky Capsule, providing breathtaking views of the coastline.

History and concept

The Haeundae Blueline Park was inaugurated in 2017, quickly becoming an iconic spot in the Haeundae Special Tourist Zone in Busan.

Designed to offer visitors a unique experience along the picturesque coast, the park houses two flagship attractions: the Beach Train and the Sky Capsule. It aimed to promote coastal tourism and provide visitors with a picturesque way to explore the surroundings.

The Sky Capsule was introduced from 2018 onwards, aiming to offer an even more immersive experience to visitors. By rising 7 to 10 meters above the ground, the Sky Capsule allows passengers to admire the spectacular coastal landscapes in a romantic and unforgettable way.

Thus, the Haeundae Blueline Park combines history, nature, and innovation to offer visitors an unforgettable tourist experience along the beautiful Haeundae coastline.

Route and tips

For a complete experience, I recommend starting at Songjeong Station and taking the Beach Train to Daritdol Skywalk for breathtaking views.

Then, walk to Cheongsapo Station to board the Sky Capsule to Mipo Station. That’s what I did after the ticket seller’s advice, and I wasn’t disappointed, especially when I saw the monstrous queue at Mipo.

Be sure to check the schedules and prices before you go. Beach Train tickets start at 7,000 won for a one-way trip, while Sky Capsule tickets vary depending on the number of people and the type of seat.

I paid 35,000 won for a one-way trip alone.

My personal experience

So, I started at Songjeong Station, where I boarded the Beach Train to begin my journey along Busan’s coast. The Beach Train offers a relaxed and picturesque atmosphere, perfect for a seaside stroll. Comfortably seated facing the window overlooking the coast, I could admire the crashing waves and feel the sea breeze on my face as the train traveled along Haeundae Beach, renowned for its beauty.

And then, a stop at Daritdol Station to go to the Skywalk. I found myself on a platform above the sea, with glass sections allowing a dizzying view of the ocean. Be careful of vertigo; it’s strange to walk above the void. There was quite a bit of wind, and the experience was refreshing, with the sea breeze and the view of the coastal buildings.

As for the Sky Capsule, it was an adorable experience. The colorful little cars in red, green, blue, yellow, and even with little figures that follow each other along the rails give the impression of going back to childhood. The ascent above the vegetable gardens, followed by a crossing through the trees with the turquoise sea in the background, was simply magnificent. We finished the visit with a view of the city skyline upon arriving at Mipo Station.

Choosing between the Beach Train and the Sky Capsule

For those looking to enjoy unobstructed ocean views and experience picturesque seaside scenery, the Beach Train is an excellent choice. However, if you’re seeking a more unique experience and spectacular aerial views, the Sky Capsule is a must.

And let’s not kid ourselves; social media plays an important role, especially on TikTok and Instagram. Sky Capsules have become a sensation on these platforms, where videos and photos capturing the magical experience of flying over the sea have quickly gained popularity.

This virtual exposure has helped make the Sky Capsule a must-see attraction, somewhat overshadowing the Beach Train.

If you’re visiting Busan, don’t miss the chance to experience this unusual adventure on the coast, which will leave you with unforgettable memories.
